I found a tiny bit of play when the He valve is partially unscrewed but nothing I'd ever really notice or be concerned about. I tried unscrewing the crown, which extends out farther (even in just the first position), and it too has an almost imperceptible bit of play. My watch does have the little Seamonster droppings (anti-counterfeit symbol) on the back, FWIW, and it was purchased in April 2007.
