Re: Help! Seamaster Questions
In Response To: Help! Seamaster Questions ()

: Hey all I just bought a Seamaster Professional
: 300m (2254.50.00) and am in love with it. I
: have a couple questions about the fit and
: finish of the watch, which is exceptional
: but I have a couple of questions as to
: weather some things about the watch are
: supposed to be that way. First, when I press
: down on the bezel at the 6:00 position(when
: the bezel is set where it would normally be
: with the circular dot @ 12:00) I hear a
: slight click. This does not happen when I
: move the bezel around or when it is at any
: other position. I am assuming that this is
: part of the bezel's uni-directional function
: that keeps it from moving the other way. I
: just thought the tolerance would be tighter
: on the bezel against the case.

Don't have the watch myself so I can't test this issue. Sounds pretty normal.

Secondly, are
: you supposed to be able to hear the rotor
: spin around when winding? In other words
: when I bring the watch to my ear and shake
: it gently to activate the self-winding rotor
: mechanism am I supposed to be able to hear
: that? It's not loud at all but I thought
: that maybe it would be so well lubricated
: that you're not supposed to hear the rotor
: spinning at all when the watch is winding
: itself.

Yes, you should be able to hear it. Remember the rotor does more than spin -- it is winding the watch. You hear it when you manually wind the watch, so why would it not be audible when the rotor does the work instead of your fingers?

Finally, any suggestions on buffing
: out small scratches on the bracelet? I will
: wear this watch sparingly and want to keep
: it in mint condition for years. I am not so
: much worried about the saphire crystal as I
: am about the bracelet being easily scrathed.

A popular topic. Scotch-Brite pads work wonders. Search on that phrase and several posts on the topic will come up.

: I really love this watch and want to make
: sure everything is o.k. with it.

: Thanks

Welcome to the Omega fold. Glad you came by . . .

Sam
