Interesting, but what do we really have here?

: Saw this on TZ. Here's the youtube link.

Interesting, but what do we really have here?

We have a video posted by a "Mr. Buzz Aldrin"... A Mr. Buzz Aldrin who is apparently a big U2 and Police fan by the other videos posted by a bloke in the UK.

We have a voice track [which certainly sounds like it could be from Apollo 17 as "Ron" [perhaps CM Pilot Ron Evans] is mentioned several times], and a picture of an Omega Speedmaster Professional [at least it looks like a Professional from the number of lines on the dial] sans bezel but with what appears to be a White Painted Logo. A White Painted Logo would seem to point towards a c.861 movement.

However, we have no indication where this video is taken [other than against some sort of instrument panel. The Speedmaster in the video is recording a minute's worth of time every 5 seconds or so in the video [which seems VERY odd]. Why isn't the audio in sync with the video in this. Where is this instrument panel? When is it? Is it in one of the Apollo 17 craft? During the mission? Which one [CM or LM]? Or was it shot in a simulator? Or is the audio mashed up with the video?

I don't know... It's interesting and it might be considered, well, something. I'm not sure it's proof of much. It certainly isn't proof that a c.861 was worn on the moon. Maybe, with some context filled in it might be evidence supporting the contention that a c.861 may have ridden along in Apollo 17, perhaps not down to the lunar surface, but at least on the mission.

At least that's my take. It'd be nice if we knew the context of the clip, and if the audio and video actually matched up with one another. As it doesn't... Seems like this data is a little ratty.

And before anyone gets their bowels in an uproar, I'm not saying this should be dismissed out of hand, but it really needs some context determined before we can really make any even modest thoughts about it's applicability to the outstanding question[s] at hand on this topic.

I'll keep an open mind that it's evidence of something, everyone else will have to keep an open mind that it isn't necessarily evidence of anything specific at all. That's the way this works...
