some thoughts

Conversely, I do think that we should continue to push forward in our efforts to "dedicate" a vintage chrono (like the Grail) to Chuck, but within the watch enthusiast community.

Also - I am merely offering up an opinion for discussion and welcome any and all thoughts. Like everyone else, I am merely trying to think of a great way to pay tribute to a great man that was dedicated to helping people.

John:

I agree with what you have written. There are some very pragmatic, tangible things that we should do, as a community (of which Chuck was the Mayor). These are things like: doing whatever we can to keep his webpages (at XNet) up and running, making reliable mirrors of the XNet pages, developing a webpage / discussion forum where people can go, for real-time updates on Chuck's legacy (or just for some sort of "fix") . . . all these things are in process.

In terms of the watches -- it is hard to imagine that Omega would create any sort of commemorative watch relating to Chuck (or that Chuck would want anything like this; to the contrary). In terms of the vintage watches, whether it is the community calling a watch a "Maddox Speedmaster", or Omega officially designating a vintage watch as being a Maddox Speedmaster, or maybe Omega having the occasional reference to Chuck in its publications, etc. . . . I believe that it will take some time to sort out all these possibilities. I am guessing that the best and most likely tributes will come from the community of vintage collectors, with Omega (and probably others, like Antiquorum) supporting more informally and sporadically (in books, catalogs, etc.)
