Here's an intersting snippet of vintage Speedy pricing....

I have been following this watch on the Bay since the auction start and it just ended with some fireworks...

The watch itself appears to be an original 105.003-64, the last of the Pre-Pro's and the last of the no crown guard Speedies. It is also known as the "Ed White" model as it was strapped to his wrist for that historic spacewalk. The model itself has a ton of history, but so do a lot of the early Speedmasters.

Anyway, as you can see from the pictures, the watch needs a complete overhaul, a pusher and an original bracelet to make it right. It is also missing the chrono hands and it will be tough to source used hands that look right and match the patina of the existing parts. It is also unknown if the movement is missing any pieces, although the seller maintains that it runs.

Final sale price? Just over $4KUSD. It will interesting to see if we are on the cusp of another leap in vintage Speedy pricing or if this was an exception.

Cheers,

John
