It's been a loooong time since I last posted on this board and it seems like a lot has gone by (my best wishes to Chuck and his family; I still can't believe it).

Back then I always wanted an Omega Bond (either the classic 2531.80 Bond or the GMT coax version). Recently I got interested in the vintage side of the Omega family. Somehow the older classic watches felt more appealing due to the fact that they required a little searching and can't just be ordered for any store. The history of a vintage and Omega's history with in-house movements won me over even though I'm relatively young at 21.

This is my most expensive watch purchase ($375 taxed and shipped) and will be the only one for awhile! It will be used exclusively as a dress watch for those medical school interviews!

1954 Omega Vintage Automatic
Omega Calibre 344 "Bumper" or "Hammer" copper movement, unadjusted, but still has the fine swan-neck regulator.
14k Gold Filled case and case back
Original Case, crown, movement, and hands.
Refinished Dial
New crystal

I should invest in a better camera (it got splashed with sea-water and has focusing problems)!

I still don't know much about vintage watches, but this one caught my eye. I like the dressy appeal it has and the subsecond hand is a nice touch compared to the now more traditional center seconds. Although the dial is non-original, I love the look of it as it matches with the rest of the watch very nicely IMHO. I've tried to find out more about the cal. 344 movement, but with little luck. It seems like a pretty "common" movement and is nothing "special," but if anyone has more info about it, it would be appreciated.

I think my collection is off to a good start!
