: Hi all, I may have missed it but I don't remember having seen any
: posts yet about the new ltd. ed. Speedy "Alaska
: Project".
: I thought it was quite strange, as this seems to me the most
: interesting Speedy to have appeared in years. So I've said to
: myself: let's kickstart the topic!
: If instead it has already been covered, why not give it a second
: round ;-)?
: Personally I find it very attractive with the white dial and the
: so-called Apollo hands for chrono minutes & hours. The strap
: also is a new one, specifically designed for this model.
: From some pictures I have seen on eBay it also comes with a red
: outer case that quite closely resembles the original one,
: although this is where the distance between the original and
: this re-edition is largest. It claims the watch has been
: specifically enhanced (as it were) for the freezing temperatures
: of outer space and the even greater temperature leap of well
: over 300 °C.
: What is quite funny, anyway, is that the original Alaska Project
: remained a prototype and never made it to outer space, despite
: the markings on the new model outer case...
: One practical remark in the end: nice as it might be, it's pretty
: pricey too, though, with a MRP of well over 3500 euros.
: Cheers,
: Fabrizio
Its a nice interesting watch, however the red outer case is completely useless for every day wear. One or two members of the other forums have one. I particularly like the white band that comes with it. At least they stuck with the 1861 on this LE. A nice conversation piece, but a little pricy for my tastes.
