Essentially, a watch for skindiving was seen by some as a over-specialized and of negligible utility even in its intended application. Since it was also considerably more expensive it just didn't attract much favor.

The model design owed more to marketing than utility; Omega was leaning hevily on trying to market the uncommon "apnea" module that they had developed for the Americas Cup models in a non-chrono watch. It was a watch that went in search of a purpose.
