Re: The Flemings strap is a perfect compliment to the Omega

: That's an outstanding looking strap. The dark green color
: really sets off the dial on the watch (which is pretty damn
: stunning, too). It's amazing how the right strap can just lock
: in the perfect look to a great timepiece. Bravo, Sam!

Thanks . . . dark green is not a common color, so it was a bit of a "fashion risk". Glad somebody else thinks it works. My fashion critic, the Watchwidow, looked at it and said, "you know I just don't like that watch" and wouldn't say anything else . . . .

By the way, Flemings does fabulous work . . . . and the turnaround can be amazing. The latest strap I ordered on Thursday and it was ready on Saturday.

But make sure you talk to Nancy, and not one of the owners, Bob or David. A quick story about the one time the turnaround wasn't amazing . . .

Nancy was out sick, and apparently was out for about a week, during the period when I ordered this green strap. My friend Jim and I came in a month ago, so Bob wrote up the order for the green one to be made with the same measurements as the black strap on deployant (below, on a 50th anniversary Speedy) Nancy had measured and made for me.

But the green one never came in and Nancy never called -- which is most unusual.

I called, and Nancy didn't have any paperwork on it. She was panicked and audibly upset.

Bob had 1) misunderstood and set it aside for me to bring in the deployant buckle . . . . and 2) set it aside where Nancy didn't know it was there and couldn't follow up. That's not all: 3) he had also taken orders for a red stingray strap and cordovan alligator card case/wallet for my friend Jim from out of town.

Nancy never found my paperwork . . . so we just wrote it up again and it was ready in two days.

Bob had personally picked up Jim's strap after it was made and then couldn't find it . . . and I never did find out exactly what happened with the card case. I suspect that they just remade both, because Jim got his stuff the same time I did, allowing for shipping.

We know who actually makes that place run now, and who you need to talk to . . . Nancy. And she is wonderful.
