Running a little fast?
I know that this subject comes up every so often, particularly with novice watch owners. You get your watch and you find it is running fast. Now here's my own latest experience with my Omega chrono Seamaster Special edition for the US. This is the one with the silver dial. OK, I purchased it pre-owned from a dealer I trust. Came with all the requisite stuff. Only thing was it was running fast. About 12-14 seconds per 24 hours. Double COSC and Omega standards for a chronometer. Off to my watch maker who did some "twinking". Got it home and found it was running about 6 seconds. That's OK but I thought it could do better. So I experimented, taking the watch off at night and placing it in two different positions; crown up and crown down. COSC does the same thing. Now I find that my watch with the crown down is running at 4 seconds per 24 hours. That is most respectful. Now if your watch is running a little slow, take it off at night and try dial down or dial up. That generally picks up a few seconds. Every mechanical watch is different.
