Re: Seamaster 2252.50.00 gains a few seconds per day

My experience has been that if the balance wheel begins to get "gummed up" by drying oil, the watch will begin to speed up (the balance wheel doesn't spin fully). This happened to my re-issue Tag Heuer Autavia a couple years ago. A complete service cured the problem, restoring accurate timekeeping. While you may have purchased your watch three years ago, it is possible it sat in a showcase at your retailer/jeweler for perhaps a year or so before being sold. One year under hot illumination in the showcase could certainly, in my opinion, speed up the "aging" of lubricants (makes the oil "gummier" or sticky). I think you need a routine service (clean/oil/adjust) which is recommended every 3 to 4 years by most watchmakers anyway, I believe. Am I right guys?

: My Seamaster 2252.50.00 chronometer runs fast. It gains a few
: seconds to a few minuets per day. The watch is 3 yrs old and has
: never been serviced. Could this be the problem? If anything,I
: just assumed it would run slow when service is required.
