Unusual Seamaster quartz? *PIC*

Dear Forum,

A colleague of mine has a gent's Seamaster Professional Quartz circa.1993. As shown in the picture the second hand has a white tip. I am curious as I have only ever seen a red tipped second hand on the Seamaster Pros.

Did this version officially exist or is just faded or a replacement?

Any information would be much appreciated

(It doesn't appear to be faded, and why would anyone fit a non-standard replacement!)
