Omega Seamaster America's Cup (1998) - rubber strap

Hi all

Apologies if this question has been asked before.

I have the Omega Seamaster America's Cup Limited Edition 1998 (9999) with stainless steel strap.

I recently put it in for a full service with Omega and requested they give me the black rubber strap.

When I got it back it wasn't the rubber strap I was expecting. What I got back was the domed black rubber stitched strap.

What I was expecting was the ridged back rubber strap (part number 97996082021).

I called Omega who advised that the ridged back was designed specifically for the GTM, although it would fit mine watch they would not recommend fitting it this as the two watches in question have different depths so the strap would be higher up the watch case.

My question to this forum is, are there any issues with adding the ridged back to my watch (bearing in mind I'm being told Omega do not recommend it)?

Any help or guidance would be gratefully appreciated.

Cheers

Richie
