Confessions of a long time lurker... (Long)

I've been reading everyone's messages for a long time and never posted one so I thought it was about time.

I purchased an Omegamatic a few months ago from a store that only had this one Omega at the time. When I was looking at it I noticed an imperfection on the face. There was either a small spot chipped through to silver on the black face or a silver chard of metal on the black face. When I pointed this out they said “If you purchase this you can get a full refund at anytime, even up to 4 years later if you're not satisfied.” Unbelievable! So I bought it.

It kept great time spot on for 4 weeks until two things happened. This same store got a SMP Automatic SS/SS bezel and GMT, and my Omegamatic lost 5 seconds in 1 week (unacceptable for a quartz IMHO). I returned it for a full refund and bought the SMP Automatic SS/SS Bezel full size.

I've read every post for months on quartz vs. automatic and full vs. mid size and decided that automatic/full size was the watch for me. I love It! The SS Bezel gives the illusion that it's smaller than the Blue Bezel SMP. Then the 'sickness' set in.

I made the mistake of looking at IWC's and purchased a Fliegerchronograph 3706 on Steel Bracelet (love this one also!). That’s another story in itself. Someone please tell me I can put off another watch purchase for at least a year!

Special thanks to Derek for running a great and classy forum.
