Try placing it crown-up, place the light...

directly above the watch. I imagine that it will give the watch some highlight on the crystal near the crown and leave the other half quite dim. I don't know what is the minimum focusing distance of your new Olympus but you should have no problem moving in close.

What about backlighting? I have never seen a backlighted Speedy before. I'm not sure if it will work out well. But it surely will yield a different (hopefully, cool) effect.
