Red Mark on back of Seamaster

Derek,

What does the red mark on the caseback of the Seamaster mean? Is it a seal of some sort. I am looking to buy a preowned Seamaster, is it good to check if this red mark is intact? Does this mean the caseback was never opened? What about the Semasters that have no red mark at all? The Seamaster I am looking at are both in the 600 series serial numbers. My brother has a Seamaster in this series and his lug end pieces are plush fit "solid" looking on the back. The newer ones have a different looking end piece underneath. It's like it has a "gouged out" look on both sides to make it easier to remove the bracelet pin from the head. I know I sound picky, I am trying to find one of the older models with the "solid" looking end pieces. Do you know what I am talking about?
