I'm disputing my own post now! I bought an 18k/SS Speedmaster (I had gone there to look at Seamasters and spotted this "bargain" in a summer sale) last August from Goldsmiths (authorised dealer) for �835, 50% off list which was �1670. I subsequently found out that it was an ex-repair item and returned it three weeks ago for a full refund (not bad after 6 months wearing it!) As this was a dodgy deal I'm don't think it counts as guide to discounts from authorised dealers

Hopefully this was a one-off incident. Out of interest, Austin Kaye (www.austin-kaye.co.uk) valued it as worth �300-400, so I was glad to return it and very glad I didn't pay the full �1670.

Also a warning for grey market fans that even authorised dealers (Goldsmiths is a reputable UK high street company) aren't 100% reliable.
