Thanks for your supportive and helpful comments. I must say yesterday's experience amazed me. Surely all this dealer achieved was to de-value one of his best brands? How do these folk manage to become authorised dealers?

I'd be very interested to get details of that decent dealership you suggested. However, I have a slight problem. I'm actually writing from England (please don't let that put you off!). It just goes to prove that arrogant watch dealers exist all over the globe :-(

I'm not sure how practical it would be to have a watch sent to me here in the UK, but by all means let me have details of any decent dealers if you think they'd consider serving me over here.
