Loosing time!!

Greetings from Canada: I have just recently purchased a used SMP and was very please with the watch (very high quality time piece in my opinion..) the only problem was the watch is loosing 17 secs a day or (0.73 per hour) I was told by a jeweler that it would cost me $200 canadian or $135 us dollars to clean it up and fix it, does this sound right ?? and what exactly do they do to that it costs that much ?? Also is this type of problem common with SMP's and should I worry or just leave it for now and simply adjust the time once a month ?? Thanks for any helpful reply you can offer and this is a GREAT web site for OMega info!!!
