The backyard barbeque or any kind of cooking where timing is involved. I use a chrono to time the charcoal so I know about when the grill is ready. When smoking or roasting, I use it to keep track of the time while I do other things. It is great for keeping track of the pizza delivery man, and, of course, use it to see how long you had to wait for that table at your favorite restaurant. (You know the place, where they tell you it will be 12 minutes, but NOT!)
