Re: 40 hour reserve?
In Response To: Re: 40 hour reserve? ()

I normally wear my Seamaster from 7 am, when I get out of the shower, until 10 or 11 pm when I go to bed. The only other time it comes off is when I go to the gym (I take my trusty dusty G-Shock there).

Last night I worked out around 5 pm, so I took my watch off then. I didn't put it back on when I got home, showered, and all of that. I went to the gym again this morning, so when I got out of the shower, it was 9 am. I started to put the watch on my wrist, when I noticed it had stopped. So, it was off my wrist from 5 pm the previous night until 9 am the next morning. By my count, that is 14 hours, way less than what the reserve ought to be.

I wound the watch by hand this morning (100 turns), and I will keep an eye on things over the next few days. It is a little worrisome, but OTOH, the watch is keeping *excellent* time (+ 2 seconds a day), so I find it hard to believe that there is anything terribly wrong with the watch. Dunno. Thoughts?

: Adam,

: I don't think I've ever taken my Seamaster Chrono off long
: enough to really test out the reserve.

: I'm curious, though. Did you ever wind it all the way up to
: begin with, and how long do you normally wear it during the
: day.

: It seems that if your movement has a problem with winding
: itself fully that it wouldn't be keeping such good time
: (mine's about -2 or -3 seconds per day).

: Good question, though. When my Speedy shows up here in a few
: days I'll leave the Seamonster on the dresser and check it
: every night to see if it's still running. I'll get back
: with you on the results.

: Jeff
