Your guess is correct. It can be manually wound. But why do so? If you are wearing the watch on a regular basis or leave it on a winder, there's no need to wind it manually. Besides, it is said that winding automatic watch manually is not good for some parts of the mechanics. As you can see, I am no expert here. And what I am offering you is a suggestion from a newbie.

You may wind it manually when you want to start it from a dead stop to ensure that it will go on smoothly and properly in the initial period.

Mine is 6031.... manufactured in Jan 99.
