I get many requests for photos. But there are many places on the web to see Seamaster photos. Omega S.A. has a good web site, there are many new watch vendors that have close to the full Omega catalog online, and many used watch vendors with images of current and older models.
So, I plan to use this page mainly for images you won't see just anywhere -- the more unique, hard to find, and special close-ups of details that other sites do not show.

Seamaster Professional 150th Anniversary & Seamaster GMT This is the style Omega reportedly will use for their 2000 model year Seamaster Professional line |
In 1998, Omega introduced an updated dial and hand design on two specific Seamaster models. The Seamaster 150th Anniversary (left) was introduced at the end of 1998 and is the unlimited version. A limited version (1848 pieces) with a silver grey dial and white gold bezel was released at the same time. The Seamaster GMT (right), introduced in the Fall of 1998, was the first Seamaster with the new dial and hands.
Seamaster Professional 200M, also known as the 'Pre-Bond' version |
Photo courtesy of Mike Partee. Notice this earlier version of the Seamaster Professional Diver has the essentially the same dial and bezel markings used on the current 300M 'James Bond' version. Notable differences are the 200M's smaller crown guards, simpler case shape, lack of helium relief valve, toothed outer edge of the bezel, very different bracelet style, and hands resembling those of a Rolex Submariner. This model had a black dial and black bezel. When Omega replaced it with the 300M, they dropped the black in favor of a choice of blue dial (with blue or steel bezel) or white dial (with steel bezel). I hope Mike remembered to screw the crown back down before he went swimming again!
Rogues Gallery of Fake Seamasters Photo excerpts taken from various illegal sellers of replicas on the Web |
Word Games: 1) Should say PROFESSIONAL CHRONOMETER, not AUTOMATIC. 2) Seamaster replica inadvertently labeled Speedmaster. 3) 'Seamaster' not in correct typeface, missing PROFESSIONAL CHRONOMETER and the depth rating. 4) Used vintage form of Omega logo, should not have anything but logo and Omega name above hands. Details, Details...: 1 & 2) Missing hour marker at 3 o'clock, date too far inboard, minute hand does not reach minute markers, dot on second hand should be smaller than one on hour hand, should not have metal rims around hour markers. 3) Oversized flourescent marker on bezel. 4) Helium Relief Valve missing, should not have numbers on outer edge of dial (see lower right corner of photo). Black and Blue and See-Through Too: 1) Current model Pro Diver never made in black, missing white line around date window. 2) Pro Chronograph not made in black either, subdials should match dial color, subdial hands should be red, missing milled edges around base of chronograph pushers. 3 & 4) See-through backs have never been available on real Seamaster Professionals. Missing Links: 1 & 2) Simple imitations of the 9-section bracelet links. 3) Clasp lacks release pins on sides, text is raised instead of engraved. 4) Clasp is completely incorrect. |
