CONDITION REPORT
The case shows some signs of wear (dings and scratches), but holds the original shape as it hasn’t been polished (maybe lightly polished in the past). The caseback has still maintains the original crisp Universal Genève logo. The movement is in wonderful condition, perfectly working. Please note that these microrotors movement usually have faulty microrotors (that either don’t wind the watch or scratch the caseback), neither of those happen in this piece. The dial has a really crisp silver-ish white color, with some patina in the bottom half part. Radium is still present and lightly glows under UV light. The hands are in really good condition. The crown is original and correct to this reference. The crystal is original and correct to the watch, as these early models came with a rounded loupe (instead of the later trapezoidal loupes) and unsigned in the middle. The serial number 1.9M would date this example to 1959, maybe 1960.

DESCRIPTION
The Universal Geneve Polerouter is one of watchmaking’s best pieces. It is not the most complicated, neither the highest quality. This watch represents an era in which watchmaking was trully aimed at a specific purpose.

This particular watch was developed by Universal Geneve (and designed by the famous Gerald Genta) for the SAS (Scandinavian Airline System) to fly over the North Pole in the 1950s. This is a true aviation watch that, in our opinion, is still undervalued.
