FS: Vintage Tropical Eterna Kontiki 130TT

Hello CT,

Here for sale I have a rare and beautiful tropical Eterna 130TT.

THE NITTY GRITTY
Maker: Eterna
Model: Kontiki 130TT
Functions: Date
Case Material: Stainless steel
Case Width: 37mm
Case Thickness: 12mm
Crystal: Plexiglass
Lume: Yes, radium
Lug Width: 18mm
Box/Papers: N/A
Year: 1960s

CONDITION REPORT
The large 37mm case has seen an interesting life and, gladly, has been used -but not abused- for its purpose in its 60 year-old life, and therefore, shows some nicks and scratches due to normal wear. The dial, the true protagonist here, has turned into a deep chocolate hue that really shows its beauty under sun light. Every piece conforming this watch is original to it, including crystal, dial and hands (from which the lume has fallen off). The crystal shows two small dents at 12 (see pictures).

DESCRIPTION
Eterna produced a number of watches that are highly respected by watch collectors. The Kontiki is one of them. It was introduced in 1947 by the brand with one main purpose, to sail from South America to Polynesia on a wooden raft. These watches were named after the raft they used, Kontiki. If you look at the back of the watch, you will see a gold medallion that shows a representation of the Kontiki back in time.

Tropical dials are hot right now, but not all tropical dials were created equal. Some are artificially created to command a premium, but this one turned brown due to exposure to elements and, in essence, humidity. I have to say that I can not be happier than it did.
