FS: Heuer Monza ref. 150.511 Niki Lauda

For sale, this amazing 1970s Heuer Monza ref. 150.511 AKA Niki Lauda. A rare opportunity for any watch geek / petrol head to acquire this timepiece. This very model was awarded by none other than Jack Heuer to mark Ferrari’s World Championship win in 1975 thanks to the Austrian racing legend Niki Lauda, hence the nickname. Heuer was the Ferrari’s team official timekeeper and sponsor from 1971 to 1979.

The original Heuer Monza was launched in 1976, since then, This sporty chronograph model combines timeless design and rich racing history under the hood.

Please read the condition report carefully to help you assess the overall condition of the watch.

MODEL / REFERENCE: Heuer Monza ref. 150.511, serial no. 360039.

DIAL+HANDS: The dial is very well preserved and shows a sharp contrasts of vibrant red and white accents with the black matte dial giving the watch this sporty look, a favourite among collectors. TAG Heuer still offers this dial’s colour combination today.
The printing on the dial is still very crisp and the hour markers have aged beautifully, developing a warm custard patina as the Tritium appears to be intact.
The outer periphery of the dial combines both a Tachymeter and Pulsometer scales. They’re legible and in very good condition.
The hands are original and are in mint condition. The Tritium has developed a matching patina to the hour indexes.

CRYSTAL: The plexy crystal has currently some scratches and will be polished by my watchmaker.

MOVEMENT: This timepiece is powered by the workhorse caliber 15 automatic chronograph movement. It features a permanent small seconds subdial at 10 o’clock. The date at 6 o’clock and 30-minute register at 3 o’clock. The watch is currently at the watchmaker for a movement service. The chronograph starts, stops and resets as intended.

CASE: The brass case is chrome plated and measures 38.5mm in diameter and 43.5mm lug to lug giving the watch a charming presence on the wrist. The case shows some signs of wear throughout meaning that this watch was no safe queen and has served its purpose as a true tool watch. The chrome plating started to fade off on the right side between the pushers as well as on the rim underneath the caseback.
Some dings are worth mentioning and can be seen on the bezel and upper right lug. Please refer to the photos.

CASEBACK: The stainless-steel screw-in caseback is in very good condition and is signed with the Monza sign above the Heuer logo. The reference number can be found along with a serial number stamped beneath.

CROWN + PUSHERS: The crown is signed and is situated on the left side of the watch and operates as it should. The two integrated chronograph pushers can be found on the right side and they operate flawlessly.

BRACELET: The Monza will be fitted with a new black leather racing style strap.

ACCESSORIES: ChronoScope Saffiano leather watch roll

The chrome plated Monza is highly sought after by collectors mainly because of their rarity compared to the PVD coated model. Unfortunately, only a few chrome plated watches still survive, and even less and less good examples like this one still survive today.

The price is 3,850 CHF (Swiss Franc) or best reasonable offer plus shipping at actual cost. Low ball offers will be politely ignored.
