Heuer / TAG Heuer Quartz Dive Watches

Anyone else here into the Heuer and TAG Heuer quartz dive watches?

Heuer began to focus on dive watches in the late 1970s and by 1983 offered dozens of models of quartz dive watches. Heuer (and TAG Heuer) offered an amazing variety of colors and styles, with most models available in four sizes – small / ladies (28 mm); mid-size (32 mm); full-size / mens (38 mm) and jumbo (42 mm). The quartz dive watches continued to dominate the TAG Heuer catalogs into the 1990s, often being credited with carrying the brand when making mechanical chronographs was a difficult business.

The Heuer and TAG Heuer quartz dive watches are great for collectors -– abundant in the market, relatively inexpensive and reliable. The Series 1500 watch (bottom center) has been accurate to within one second per month for the last year.

The six in this photo are as follows:

  • Bottom right is the Heuer Series 1000 (Ref 980.021), circa 1984
  • Bottom center is the Series 1500 (Ref 925.206G), from the early 1990s
  • Bottom left is the Series 3000 (Ref 932.206), circa 1990
  • The top row features three Series 1500 watches from the early 1990s, two with granite dials (959.706G on the left and WD-1211 on the right), and the two-tone diver (WD-1221).

No quartz snobbery here . . . these are fun watches, especially with the amazing selection of styles and sizes in the $300 to $500 range.

Anyone else "collecting" these?

Jeff
