In terms of explaining so many unsold lots -- Perhaps some problems in setting the reserves; by the time you add on the 24% buyers premium, some of the low estimates were just too high. It goes back to the question of why someone would buy a very common watch (Say, Heuer Autavia "Viceroy", where there is a 24% premium being added. Plenty of these watches on eBay or other more efficient markets.
Generally, however, these watches looked nice and the estimates seemed OK.
