Do not underestimate the revulsion factor of g*&@ for the Heuer community! Actually I've seen gold Montreals go for even lower (admittedly with more condition problems).
The best way to illustrate the g*&@ aversion factor is to see the prices of 2447 style val 72 carrera - has to be in the top three most collectible Heuers - but if you are OK with g*&@ you could get one for under $900, whereas you will have topay 150-200% more for a stainless steel one.
I have to also say that g*&@ plated is a pain because of the wear issues, but solid g*&@ sometimes gets decent prices, but not always - those solid g*&@ 1153 carreras never seem to sell for much either.
In the rest of tool watch land, is there the same discount for g*&@? For example I think there was a solid gold flightmaster - is that collectible or sells at a discount?
