not all carreras have signed crowns...some of the dato's didn't. i'm not sure of the other models that might not have had signed crowns ...i'll let the carrera experts pipe in on that question for a more definite answer.

personally i wouldn't have a "jeweler" do this...unless your using the term "jeweler to mean a competent watchmaker?

as far as i know if done carefully the gasket should be okay, although after 30 years it's limited water resistance is far gone, so in that regard there isn't much of an issue. i would think also a generic gasket could be seated to replace it.

i would...these carreras bring decent money and a couple of hundred is worth it to not have to find parts for a movement long gone. just my opinion though.
