The full answer is complex, and I will try to write more later.

The simple answer is that once upon a time, the nicest Andretti might have sold for $25,000 . . . perhaps even $30,000; in this same timeframe, we saw the Rindts (Ref 2446) selling a notch above these levels.

What we are seeing now is dealers clinging to the hope that the market is still at this level, or perhaps hoping that some buyer will come along who does not know any better.

My estimate of current "fair market value" for a nice, unmolested Andretti would be in the $10,000 to $15,000 range. But you are correct, that a look at Chrono24 or eBay would have you thinking that they might be worth twice this amount.
