One other interesting question: what could displace the Mcqueen Monaco as the most valuable Heuer?
If we consider just a one year horizon, then I can see only two possibilities, were they to come up for sale:
- Eisenhower's black dialled chronograph ref 2447
- Niki Lauda's 1158 gold Carrera
I'd think the Lauda watch is more iconic - in my mind it is the ultimate motorsports watch. So I'd vote for that one. Eisenhower watch is very cool though.
I don't know what other drivers had an 1158 - but hard to beat Lauda as the icon of the era.
What do others think?
