There is another large difference between the original Monza and the reissue and that's the position they hold in their respective ranges.

the original was Heuer's cheap entry level chronograph with a base metal version of the carrera case, cheap dial with only luminous markers and the reduced version of the cal12 movement, the cal 15. It was later known as the Economy Chronograph (probably when the licence to use "Monza" came up for renewal).

The New Monza, however, sits at the top of the range, with a beautifully made case, saphire glass crystal and the El Premero movement.

much as i love the old Monza, the cases do tend to suffer from pitting near the crown and pushers, and with the black version, occasional fading of the black chrome finish. also the sub register hands always seem to get set the wrong way round when they visit a watchmakers.. look next time on is on offer on ebay.
