: I don’t know if this is the right place to be
: asking questions but this is the only HEUER
: forum I could find.
: Anyway, I have a Heuer series 1000 quartz dive
: watch that is about 15 years old. It still
: keeps relatively accurate time (+1 sec/day).
: However, for the past couple of years it has
: been unreliable at times. There have been
: instances where it would run slow (about
: 5-10 min/day) or even stop. This happening
: even after changing the battery. It would go
: back to running well after I rest the time a
: couple of times.
: My question is, this being a quartz watch, does
: it need some kind of servicing other than a
: battery change out? And if so, can I take to
: my local watch repairer or should I send it
: back to Heuer?
: I have four other automatic watches and every
: 5-6 years I send them in for servicing. I’m
: not sure what I do for quartz watches. This
: was the first gift my wife ever gave me so
: it has sentimental value.
: Thanks for any help.
hi
yes your watch does need servicing, they seem to keep going for longer than automatics but in the end they do need a little tlc. the quartz module for this watch is still available from any good watch parts supplier for about £35ish, so you can just get the watch repairer to fit a new movement for about the same price as a service. to keep it original, do remember to get him to swop over the cover (on the osscilator i think) that has heuer printed on it.
good luck
