Hi all,
I am looking for a bit of help. I have come across an early Heuer quartz diver 200M (ref # 980-053). It is in good to fair condition and looks like the chroming has peeled off (?) on parts of the case; shoulders etc.. Were these cases made of steel? cheaply made? Can it be re-electroplated?
The crown is signed but not a screw down, is that how it came from the factory?
Bottom line, is this watch worth further consideration? Or should I continue looking for an automatic?
If I do purchase it will it be reasonably easy to find someone to restore such a watch? Any recommendations where I might send it?
Any and all info is much appreciated. My thanks in advance!
