thanks to Chuck and Randy, for figuring this out.

seems that once again, those who were enthusiastic enough and loyal enough to be the early adopters of a new version / new technology were adversely affected. Apple seems to do well with their development / introductions . . . imagine if this had been Microsoft . . . now that could have been a real mess!!
