Glad you liked it. No offense to Carl, but I would have traded that interview for Wally Schirra.

Yeah, I suppose I could see that. But imagine you they told you in a corridor that behind a door on the left was one and the door on the right was the other, you'd at least hesitate a second.

But I was really impressed with Carl's professionalism. He had done Letterman the day before, but he was completely "there," listening to the questions, and having a good idea of who I was and what I needed.

I imagine the unprofessional and less savvy fellows just don't get that far. And these fellows are pretty accustomed to having certifiably insane schedules. I mean take a look at the Nextel Cup race schedule, and figure in qualification and practices and realize that some drivers do double duty and race the Busch series [which on many weekends are at different tracks in different states] like Carl does... And then there are all the sponsor's appearances, and all of the Cup contenders were in NYC last week instead of at their team HQ or at the track. I mean if I was 22-28 years old and had the talent and the backing I'd love to try it, but it's hard HARD work. It's a difficult stressful life.

I'm pretty amazed that we haven't had a driver on that schedule "wig out" on us!

He was wearing a big stainless chrono on a bracelet--not a Heuer or an Omega, I'd guess--but I couldn't identify it.

You should have asked and compared wrists! Oh well, he's young... He'll be around for a while!

best

allen

I'll bet it was fun!

Cheers!
