personally, a great revelation about my wife's appreciation of watches (or lack of appreciation) came when I had been wearing this one for a week. I pointed it out to her and said, "what do you think of this one?" Her answer, "it just looks like a watch."
the good news -- this amazing watch went undetected for a week . . . no questions about the expense, the budget, the investment, etc.
the bad news -- if she didn't see the beauty in this one, then she will never appreciate the beauty of a watch . . . sad, very sad.

: I had a wondrful break-through moment on saturday evening. I was
: dressing to go to an early Christmas party and had just made the
: decision of which watch to wear when my girlfriend came in and
: suggested i take off the Montreal and put the 1163 Autavia GMT
: on the grounds that the colours went better with the shirt i had
: on. Now she didn't use the model names and she probably doesn't
: know a Carrera from a Carolla but the fact that she participated
: in my interest and helped me find the right watch for an
: occasion is a land mark moment. I felt very proud of her. Which
: leads me to my question to you all - Can anyone suggest a 70's
: automatic Heuer for a lady ? It is Christmas coming up and maybe
: i could find something that would appeal to her.
