: OK, gentlemen (and any ladies who may be reading) . . . let's get
: down to the serious question: How much do we think that this one
: is worth?
: I have seen some e-mail chatter on the subject, and discussed it
: with one of the "regulars", but it seems like a
: worthwhile topic for discussion.
: I will start the discussion by suggesting that the recent range of
: values seems to have been from approximately $4,000 (for a nice
: collection of parts or maybe a beaten up watch) to approximately
: $10,000 to $12,000 for the very best samples. I should add that
: I am aware of one sellin at the $10K level; no hard evidence of
: the $12K sample.
: Looking at the one now offered on ebay, the "plus"
: factors might be that all the parts seem to be original (of
: course, the dial and case, but also the main hands, chrono
: needles and buckle); also, the PVD on the case looks very
: strong. the "minus" factors might be loss or breaking
: of the luminous markers (for example, at two o'clock and four
: o'clock) and perhaps some fading of the chrono second hand and
: needles.
: So what would I pay for this one, assuming that I was wanting to
: buy one . . . drum roll, please . . . I would say something in
: the range of $7,000. If the seller could produce better photos,
: showing that the needles are a brighter orange, maybe it gets to
: $8,000. For anything above that price, I would wait for the of
: the really good ones (no loss of markers). I should also add
: that I knwo nothing about the movement or mechanical condition
: of this one.
: I will add, for the record, that I do not intend to bid on this one
: (unless it could be purchased for something less than $7,000).
: How do others see the value of this one?
: Jeff
