I think you will find Royal Mail will do this for you. The sevice is called AIRSURE and you can track it online and get a signature. See www.royalmail.com. I have used this service many times for sending cash to Europe and USA. I think you will find it is a lot cheaper than using the carriers mentioned.
By the way I have used Fedex for watches to the USA and have never had a problem - but I have called them watches rather than antiques.
