Dear friends of Onthedash,
Hello everyone. Basel is coming and I wished to provide with some insights. We will obviously try for our 150 years rich of many major patents and milestones, to add one more making a big difference on the market place. Looking back, TAG Heuer has focussed a lot on two topics over my 10 years of tenure: ultimate precision and horological chain. On precision we have invented the 1st swiss wristwatch chronograph at the 1/1000th second (Microtimer), the first ever mechanical chronograph measuring and displaying the 1/100th of a second (Calibre 360 / Vanquish Calibre 360 / Carrera 360), the first ever mechanical chronograph displaying the 1/10th of a second (Grand Carrera Calibre 36 Caliper). All of them have been awared the GP d'Horlogerie de Genève confirming the magnitude and subtance of these innovations.
In parallel we have started to re-invent the horological chain made of energy storage, transmission and regulation; with the V4 we have revolutionized the transmission substituting 400 years old wheels-pinions principles by 7/100th mm notched ISO belts combined with ball-bearings to reduce friction. Now with our 150 years and Baselworld 2010 coming, time is coming to disclose our 2nd revolution of re-inventing the horological chain: then Energy or Regulation ? That is the question. Answer in now less than 7 weeks in Basel !
