I followed that auction but I did not bid. I am pretty shure this is not a genuine ref. 980.005. I asked the seller, and he confirmed that the case is a ref. 844/2 wich is a black dialed automatic Heuer. He also confirmed that the hands are in gold tone, they should be black. The seconds hands is of wrong shape, and the lumious filling in the hour/minute hands is too wide.

Even tough I really want a automatic orange Heuer diver to match the quartz orange boy I already have, I did not bid on this one. I think it's a parts bin watch built up of a ref.844/2 case, a nos orange dial (there was one on Ebay some time ago), and aftermarket hands of the wrong type. The Heuer box is from another decade...

It looks good at first look, but I think it is built up of a mix of parts.
