If you can contact the original owner, that might present us with a good opportunity for some research. Specifically, it would be interesting to know whether or not this watch had ever been exposed to any elements or event that could have caused the paint to lose the blue pigment? Fire, flood or maybe a volcano [about which we seem to be hearing a lot lately]?
I am guessing that this paint degraded, on its own, without any specific event or expsoure to the elements. It would be worthwhile to confirm this.
