the question I would ask is what happens when this lume is removed? will the dial survive this ordeal or will it be ruined? I would not want to be the owner sponsoring this experiment, as I am guessing that the dial is destroyed.

: Hi Tom.
: Lume dots can swell up if they are dry and old and then briefly
: exposed to moisture, but I'd say there was never enough lume
: material in a Carrera for them to swell up that much.
: Plus you have the fact that the original dots were partly
: under the markers, whereas there they completely cover
: half the marker in some cases. Possible to swell out from
: underneath and cover the top of the marker? Call me cynical, but
: I doubt it. We often see these relumed in the wrong place when
: they are relumed, with the lume material just daubed on the end
: of the marker. Original Carrera lume tends to age more to a
: paler "pannacotta" colour than the dark tan on this
: watch.
: I'd have to conclude a somewhat clumsy relume with dodgy lume
: material without strong evidence to the contrary, is the seller
: the sole owner?
