Interesting idea.
The 6036 definitely uses a 72C. Up until a couple of years ago, Rolex did not produce any in-house chrono movements, relying on Valjoux and Zenith.
But, and this is a big but: it is not at all logical to think that Rolex would have contracted Heuer to build this watch. After all, Rolex had been making chronos for years. The fact that it resembles a Heuer product is no evidence. After all, almost all the calendar chronos of the period look very much the same, including Patek.
I'd like to see that letter. It would be some amazing stuff.
Until then, let's let the brands be great on their own.
