.. the watch as a status symbol is still important to the new generation - according to Tinie Tempah* anyway. He says

.. so the expensive watch is up there with the other must have status symbols to attract groupies...
*he's one of the hottest new urban grime/pop singers in the UK at the moment. The song is Miami 2 Ibiza and is pretty funny, as are a lot of his lyrics.
