Jeff - very happy to add this one to my collection. If was a big gamble to buy it given the pics and info in the listing. I contacted the seller as soon as I saw it to advice him to end the auction right away and I would help him with a better description so he could get a fair price for it but he declined? So I added to esnipe and it went for less than I had anticipated.
Needed about 4 hours of work. The movement was OK but the dial was really dirty. I was lucky to have the correct matching pusher that was missing - a 5mm cap is not a standard size. More than anything I was glad that the bezel was in pretty good shape and the colors are still bight. I was missing the wire that held in on but I have made several of these in the past so not a big deal. I have about a dozen Heuers in the collection and there will probably be more. Thanks, Craig
PS - did you see this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300484887338&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
Had NO idea this was worth so much!

: I'm happy to hear that you landed this one. I spoke to the seller
: while it was listed on eBay, and he seemed like a nice guy. He
: was proud of his father, and his time with this watch.
: Still, I wasn't in a good position to undertake this
: "project", so I let it go, without any serious
: bidding. Glad that you won it; also glad that I didn't bid
: against you, which might have cost one of us some money.
: You have done a nice job with this one, and it looks great. The
: history is very special, and it's good that the watch is with
: someone who appreciates that history.
: Jeff
