I suppose the performance of the Derek Bell at Bonhams back iN December has much to do with the recent plethora of "DB" (or not!) Autavias
: Suddenly, it seems that every Autavia with a black dial is a
: "Derek Bell" (and I suppose that every Autavia with a
: white dial is a "Siffert").
: I have never been convinced that we know exactly which execution
: Derek Bell wore [perhaps the polished steel hands, MH bezel and
: the ridged markers are the defining features]; listings like
: this one will only confuse the matter further --

: . This one is a Viceroy, plain and simple!
: Of course, we believe that Siffert wore a white Chronomatic
: Autavia, and we are happy extending the "Siffert"
: label well beyond that. For some reason, the rapid spread of the
: Derek Bell name is more bothersome to me.
