Re: Is this a new Chronomatic discovery (or not)?

I agree that the script type is very similar BUT when compared in macro photo's from Paul's A & F Chronomatic Carrera http://www.onthedash.com/Guide/_Chronographs/63.Carrera/e.Automatic_Early/b.Ref_1153/a.1153N_Chronomatic/32Car1153NChronomaticPG.jpg
there does seem to be some differences.
Immediate differences i notice are :-
- the R in Chronomatic has a longer loop on Paul's
- both the N & M on Paul's are considerably wider
- much shorter horizontal line on the T on this new Silver discovery
- both of the C's seem too closed on this new example , with too exaggerated serifs
- the HEUER symbol is a lot wider on Paul's version
- By far the most off putting fact however must be the fact that the 2 registers are white where we would all expect them to be black

If you look at the word CARRERA compared to Paul's then there are infact many more similarities.
I cant say i'm convinced either way on this dial just yet but would like to spend a lot more time looking at comparison photo's with known Carrera Chronmatic examples.
Interesting dial either way.
Cheers - Darren

: I have been sent this picture from a collector who was after my
: opinion as to its authenticity...

: It comes from a source i would trust, but not being a Carrera
: expert i thought i'd throw it open to the forum to
: debate...perhaps it's a 1158 variant?

: However the script sizing looks very similar to that on the 1163MH
: chronomatic and appears consistent with expectations, albeit a
: different sizing to the 1153 chronomatic (but then so to is the
: script different between the 1163T and MH chronomatic dials, re
: sizing).

: Thoiughts and feedback very welcome!

: Cheers
