During this period, I believe that Siffert was actually selling the Heuers, almost like a representative or dealer. So I imagine that if he wanted a white-dial Autavia with an MH bezel, they could have one for him in a matter of minutes.
Maybe the lesson for today's collectors is that not every watch that varies from the standards is a "Franken" or "parts bin" special. There were always the special orders, which came from the factory, the service center, the dealer, etc.
